DEVELOPMENTAL PHILOSOPHY AND PROGRAMS
QYS U8 age group consists of 1st and 2nd grade girls and boys. This is an introductory program for players with interest in competitive soccer. We look for players who show average to above average soccer skills or athletic ability. The QYS U8’s must demonstrate an eagerness to learn and grow in the sport of soccer. The mission of this program is to provide a formal instructional environment for pre-U10 players. Players will learn proper soccer fundamentals and a better understanding of team play.
QYS U8 Juniors Program
The Juniors Program is the perfect way to introduce young children to soccer, to give them the skills they need to have fun and success in the game.
Learning more through games: fun practices are both enjoyable and instructive.
Coaching in Teaching Progressions: challenge every child at his or her own level of ability, moving step by step.
Keeping your child’s interest: QYS’s non-directive teaching method will keep your child engaged and challenged.
QYS U8 Seniors Program
The Seniors Program introduces technique through the methodology of grids and small sided games. By playing in small sided practice areas with few variables, players are encouraged to develop movement skills and a broad technical grasp of the game. The program is built upon a two phased approach:
Phase One: Basic Soccer Techniques - ball control, dribbling, passing, heading, shooting,
one & two touch movement, introduction to goalkeeping.
Phase Two: Techniques and Skill Preparation - emphasis is placed on applying defensive pressure in small sided games and large practices to refine skills. Fun and games from the non-directive philosophy are also major part of the Senior program.
Our Saturday morning training program is set up with four stations for each practic activity, ie. one passing, one dribbling, one shooting, and 1 fun game incorporating skills being taught that day. Players will spend 15 minutes at each station with one of our four coaches. We take a break before we split into 4 teams which will play two sets of games, 15 minutes each.
